Milpitas, CA, March 28, 2002 - Kaseya announces the immediate availability of version 1.8 of its Virtual System Administrator. Kaseya offers a comprehensive integrated web-base solution eliminating the need to purchase, deploy, and maintain separate single-point tools. The VSA provides IT managers everything they need to remotely manage any Windows PC (servers and workstations) in highly distributed and mobile environments through a simple web browser.

Designed specifically for organizations maintaining computers at remote locations and seeking to preserve their existing equipment investment, the VSA works with any Win32 based PC (Win95 and up). The VSA deploys easily without network infrastructure changes such as opening up the firewall or port mapping through NAT gateways. Administrators get all the functionality and can access any managed machine even on private IP addresses behind NAT - ideal for organizations supporting multiple sites as well as home and traveling users.

Kaseya's client/server architecture is both simple and secure. The server installs in minutes on any Windows server (NT or 2000). A small agent on each managed machine initiates all communications back to the server. Since all connections are outbound from the agent back to the server, the remote machines IP address can be anywhere. In addition to not opening any inbound ports, the agent maintains high security by encrypting all communications back to the server with a rolling 256-bit key.

Administrators can quickly remote control or FTP with managed machines anywhere on the Internet simply by clicking the name of the machine. The VSA automatically connects the administrator to the remote PC even when both are behind different NAT gateways. Kaseya's unique architecture lets administrators on the go solve problems immediately when they are first detected. When the IT administrator's pager goes off, they can turn to the nearest machine and fire up a browser. He or she can fix the remote machine or help remote users instantly without having to travel back to their own desk, pre-install any software, map ports, or re-configure network infrastructure.

Integrated audit and inventory collects information on all applications and hardware for each machine. Detailed reports provide a complete record of each machine's configuration or quickly highlight differences from a baseline configuration. Recurring audits keep the information current and provide the latest on any machine, even after a crash or powering down the machine. Email alert notifications inform administrators when users remove or install anything on their system.

Mass deployment of new software is a snap with the VSA. Schedule application installs for an entire organization with just the click of a mouse. Load new installations or upgrades for the entire company after hours while you go home. The VSA provides all the options you need to deploy large software packages across a variety of network configurations. The Kaseya server can distribute packages individually to each machine or once to a local file server. The Kaseya agent then executes the install package locally or across the LAN. Combine multiple software loads into a single self-extracting package with the included Kaseya Packager utility.

Included System Monitoring provides instant notification:

  • When servers go offline

  • Low disk space

  • New application installation

  • Application removal

  • NT Event Log event trigger

  • Network usage policy violations

  • System configuration changes

  • New Windows patch available

The VSA compares the state of all Win2000 and WinNT systems against Microsoft's latest patch list and sends an alert when a new patch is needed.

The Kaseya VSA integrates the seven most important IT management functions into a comprehensive, web-based system. Download a fully functional trial version of the Virtual System Administrator Kaseya's web site at http://www.kaseya.com">http://www.kaseya.com.
